Student
Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded grant program. Since 1993,
the program has assisted students in meeting the challenges of academic
life and earning their college diploma. Each year Southern's Student Support Services
program serves 200 qualified students in accordance with the U.S.
Department of Education's guidelines.
Successfully completing college
can be overwhelming at times. Student Support Services helps students navigate the
maze of coursework, career planning, financial aid resources, and personal
development issues that are part of college life.
Program services include:

Tutoring - to improve academic performance through
one-on-one small group peer tutoring

Academic Development - to develop effective
reading, writing, math and study skills through personalized
instructional assistance with peer tutors

Academic Coordination - to provide continuous
academic advising and a personalized overall educational action plan
for completion of your academic program.

Educational Counseling - to address personal
concerns and problems which may keep you from reach your educational
goals.

Career Planning - to assist in selecting an
appropriate major with career and vocational guidance.

Workshops - to address study skills, test anxiety,
money management, stress management, time organization, resume
writing, dining etiquette and many other topics in group sessions.
