A variety of services is available to help the student
select, apply for, and become employed in the career of his/her choice.
Career planning tools: Southern's
career services makes available computerized career planning
tools, which can help students select a career direction.
Resources are available for student use in learning more about specific
careers, including information on training requirements, courses,
working conditions, salary ranges, and employment outlook.
Job application skills: Each
Southern student can hone his/her job search skills. They learn to
inventory their own skills and interests, write resumes and letters of
application, and apply the art of selling themselves to prospective
employers. Workshops are conducted each semester, and individual
help is also available.
Job placement: Information to help
students learn about employment opportunities is available through our
career services. In some cases, Southern arranges interviews with
employers who have contacted us. Students may request to be
notified as opportunities become available, and all campuses have
bulletin boards on which full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal
jobs are posted.
